Summary/Abstract: 2006 marks the anniversary of more or less rounded years of important events in modern history of Romania, all related to the founder of the Romanian monarchy, Carol I: 140 years since his coming to the throne, 125 years At the proclamation of the Romanian Kingdom and 100 years since, having celebrated its 40th anniversary, the Sovereign gave its consent to the organization of the Romanian General Exposition in the Carol Park meant to show the Romanians, as well as the foreign ones, the progress registered in various fields, The country whose destiny had been entrusted to him, and which had become his new homeland. Taking into account all these anniversaries, the author of the present study intended and succeeded, using the arguments of the facts defining the essence of the reign of the first King of the Romanians, to outline both the personality of Carol I and the role and place he occupied in history Romania, which was not only minimized, but even disputed after the establishment of the communist regime, being totally or partially eliminated from the textbooks and treatises of history and, anyhow, denatured presented
