Summary/Abstract: Private correspondence has remained a historical source little used by historians because, during the Romanian Middle Ages, it was very rare, we can say that we miss it. A careful analysis of the letters sent by Princess Ecaterina Salvaressa, mother of Prince Mihnea II, to her sister Maria Adorno Vallarga offers us some pictures of the daily life of the Valache family in the late 16th century . The political context, the relationships among members of this family, their customs, mutual help and all issues related to health are some aspects that are reflected in this series of letters.
