Summary/Abstract: Dinicu Golescu deserves to be called the "first modern Romanian" from all points of view because he sought this direction among the first of his contemporaries. He was one of the first Romanians of the South Carpathians who was interested in Western culture. Once he made contact with her, at the beginning of the 19th century, he wanted to implant her among his own and for that he made all his efforts. He built schools in Goleşti and Bucharest, initiating a national movement that saw the school as the most important institution for the cultural development of the people. L m emperation for a Romanian press which, as time went on, became an active cultural factor. He was one of the most active militants for a cultivated society that had to develop culture using literature. And for this, his house in Bucharest had all the time his open doors.
