A emblem project for Botosani city in 1865

Summary/Abstract: In 1865 the Municipal Council of Botoşani decided to choose a new coat of arms, different from that of the homonymous district. The new coat of arms was to preserve the local tradition (it was necessary to have a district coat of arms), rather to mark the civitas condition of the city (a city tour) and to underline its belonging to the united Romanian State (the joined arms of Moldova And Wallachia, stamped with a princely crown). This testimony of modernization of the Romanian society was preserved by a project of a municipal heraldic seal - refused then by the central authorities - kept at the National Archives of Bucharest
