Summary/Abstract: The article is based mainly on materials from the Romanian archives (Arch. MAE, Arch. St. Buc, the background of the Royal House) and on works of the Romanian, Russian and Soviet historiography, Turkish, French, German etc. . The emphasis is on the major moments in the history of the two states, which can be divided into two parts. Duran the period 1812-1877, the Principalities, then Romania, recognize the Ottoman suzerainty
