Zur Herkunft und Entwicklung ausgewählter Germanismen im Tschechischen und Slowakischen (am Beispiel der Weinbauund Winzerterminologie)
On the Origin and the Development of Selected Germanisms in Czech and Slovak (by the Example of the Terminology of Grape-Growing and Wine-Making)

Summary/Abstract: The topics of this paper deal with Czech terms (and their Slovak equivalents) from the sphere of grape-growing and wine-making borrowed from German. Germanisms get analysed on the basis of empirical data from own fi eld research in South Moravia. These German loan words are already proven in old Czech texts. Two of those analysed Germanisms – réva and vinohrad, are continuously from old Czech until today the dominant and offi cial terms of their denotations. The remaining Germanisms nowadays play the part of territorially bounded interdialectal synonyms.
