Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes and evaluates the administrative restrictions of the freedom of assembly in Hungary. Emphasized are the considerations on the necessity to restrict this freedom for the purpose of public security and order. Also raised is the question whether such restriction are compatible with international law, and comparisons are made between different legal systems. The first part considers the constitutional guarantees of the freedomof assembly in Hungary; the second part – a draft of a Hungarian equivalent of the Polish Act on Public Assemblies; the third part – selected court verdicts shaping the practice of administrative restrictions of the freedom of assembly.
