Summary/Abstract: The following text has grown out of the need to search for inspiration for the development of humanities in schools, when it concerns pedagogical and cultural education. The fundamental subject of the article is the transposition of the category of „experience”, derived from J. Tischner’s philosophy of man, into the educational ground, as well as the search to discover in it favourable conditions in order to develop the idea of anthropocentric education. The author of the text discusses the notion of experience against the literary tradition and with reference to the existing language notions, in order to present, on the basis of Tischner’s philosophical works and the author’s reflections, two ways of understanding the category in the context of the philosophy of man. At the same time, the author transfers Tischner’s category of experience onto the level of understanding the place and the role of both the student and the teacher in the process of education – and thus shows their tasks and obligations resulting from the way we perceive other people through the prism of basic concepts around which the idea of the philosophy of dialogue represented by the author of Spór o istnienie człowieka is centred.
