Summary/Abstract: Transformation from travel to the magazine article, as well as their role in the dialogue of cultures of the West and Russia. The author and the narrator are interrelated with the analysis, the personality of the traveler, the influence of the purpose and direction of travel on the formation of a variety of genre, the object of the image of the Letters, the character and style of the descriptions, the features of the composition. On this basis, we can conclude that the work falls into two parts: letters "Italian" and "Parisian." The first observe the genre rules of travel, the rest - feuilleton.
