Summary/Abstract: Three theoretical approaches to unequality of education in contemporary pedagogy: conservative, liberal and critical theory is presented. The social and educational project, represented by conservative and liberal theory, is confronted with narrative, exemplifi cation of which is Critical Pedagogy. The educational potential and limits of conservative, liberal and critical discourse is analysed. The consequences of domination of conservative-liberal discourse for the system of education in Poland after 1989 year have been presented.
