Participatory budget as a tool for financing investments in Łódz

Summary/Abstract: One of the bases of democracy is citizen participation in governing of the state. Thanks to the social participation it is possible to build citizens’ trust and getting acceptance for projects which are undertaken by the local authorities. The aim of the author’s research carried out for the needs of this paper was to evaluate the possibility of using the participatory budget as a tool for financing investments in Lódz. The realization was possible by the analysis of the proposals submitted as tasks for the participatory budget in 2016. The author tried to diagnose the investment needs of individual districts of Lódz.
