Summary/Abstract: Keeping in mind the complexity of Charles Taylor`s thought, we consider briefly the twofold understanding of language, the representational-procedural approach and the constitutive-expressive approach, beginning with the moral ontology of self or agent. In the introduction, we briefly recapitulate some of the main ideas of Taylor`s philosophy. After this, we introduce the manner in which, for Taylor, language predicates an understanding of reality, from which he refers to the twofold understanding of language.
