Summary/Abstract: Tourism activity is one of the basic measure of developed societies life quality. The factors which influence it have a multiple character, therefore learning the determinants of undertaking tourism activity promotes preparing a better tourism offer for a services market segment. The aim of this study is showing the tourism activity determinants of small towns and villages inhabitants. The source material to write this article were the results of survey carried out in 2012 among średzki poviat (wielkopolskie voivodship) inhabitants, which was carried out among 400 people. The choice of respondents to this survey was of a quote character. In order to achieve the article objective, the respondents were divided into two groups: inhabitants of small towns (Środa Wielkopolska) and rural areas residents. The achieved data were statistically analyzed using the STATISTICA 9 program. The results of this experiment show significant differences of surveyed inhabitants tourism activities according to the place of living. The main factors hindering undertaking tourism activities are: health problems or low level of income.
