Summary/Abstract: The principles of sustainable development become an area of interest of an ever growing part of the business circles. An aim of considerations is to present the issues concerning the areas of the strategies of sustainable development implemented by hotel enterprises concerning, inter alia, running the activities in the way not endangering the natural resources, cooperation with local communities, and taking into consideration the health-related aspects of their tourist offer. In their study, the authors used as the research method case study of one of the hotel-industry groups with the strategy of sustainable development management, the Accor Group. It has created for its hotels the programme named Planet 21, which consists of 7 pillars implementing the idea of sustainable development through 21 commitments. Implementation of the programme contributes, inter alia, to reduction of carbon dioxide emission, cooperation with local communities or a higher share of women in managerial positions. The article is of the case study nature.
