Summary/Abstract: One of the major principle of European Union are the regional development, which know an substantial growth since 2007, with the launching of the funding programs for 2007-2013 period. In the European Union concept, the regional development could provide prosperity but also linkage between peoples and territories, with profound impact on the future stability. This paper aim is to highlight some of the legislative and judiciary foundations of the regional development and, also, the main challenges for Romania of this general view.
