The reform of pension systems in Latin America. The Chilean and Argentinean models

Summary/Abstract: The principal aim of the paper is to analyse the changes in the pension system of Argentina and Chile. The first part briefly describes the main characteristics of the reforms in these countries in the XX century, which consisted in the inclusion of capital element to the hithero functioning public system. The second part is concerned with the areas in which in 2008 these countries implemented far reaching reforms. Chile improved its system, whereas Argentina closed and integrated it to the public system.
