Summary/Abstract: In the last decade the Polish insurance market recorded a huge transformation in the creation and use of distribution channels. Although the traditional sales channels dominate in the sales strategies, insurance companies devote more and more attention in using new, alternative channels for current and potential customers. Primarily historical conditions should be considered while analyzing the structure of the Polish insurance market . For many decades PZU, the main Polish insurer, has determined the rules of insurance business.
