Summary/Abstract: Libraries are a non-profit organizations, which means that the founders create them in order to bring the desired benefits, that can be material or immaterial, direct and indirect, and as such, libraries now have to justify the funds in front of the founders and financiers. The ISO standard 2789 from 2003 was translated into the Serbian language in order to introduce the public library in Serbia with the practice of collecting statistical data for international reports, which will be comparable to data from other countries. The ISO standard 11620 from 2005, provides the terms definitions, library types, all kinds of library materials including electronic resources, users and services, equipment, the space and cost. The University Library «Svetozar Marković» as the main library in the territory of Central Serbia for: 4 university i 132 faculty libraries, collects the information about the work of these libraries since 1997. Work in academic libraries in central Serbia monitored since 1997 by library managers are filled every year, «Survey on library work». The aim is that the data in the existing «Survey of library work» harmonize with the data prescribed by ISO standards.
