Summary/Abstract: Group life insurance was established in order to insure large groups of people with homogenous conditions. The advantages of such insurance are low acquisition costs and low administrative expenses as well as low amounts of insurance and a broad range of supplementary perils covered. In the past, group life insurance was offered to large enterprises. Nowadays it is also offered to small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The main aim of this paper is to assess group insurance popularity in the SME sector. Moreover, an attempt is made to identify the main features of enterprises which use group insurance. The empirical study is based on the research results of the Finance of SME 2010.
