Summary/Abstract: The decade of Poland’s membership in the European Union disposes to the reflection how this period is perceived in the area of Polish consumers’ protection. An aim of considerations is to answer the two basic questions: How does the consumer policy at the level of the European Union translate into consumer protection in Poland? And: Is the Polish consumer more aware of their rights, competent, do they vindicate their claims? The article is of the theoretical and empirical nature. The presented research findings show that Poles better and better perceive the consumer policy, though Poles’ consumer knowledge not always allows them to be a partner for business. The issue of consumer protection is an important element of the implemented economic policy but also it plays an important social role.
