Summary/Abstract: In the 1870s the Narodnik movement represented the main trend in Russian social thought. It left long-lasting tracks in philosophy, sociology, history, and literature. For a long time, any positive values of the Narodnik ideology were denied; this hindered a serious research of the epoch as such, especially on literary grounds. And while in Russia the situation has changed, in Polish Russian literary studies the problem of the Narodnik writers' literary creation still remained rather in the sphere of potentiality which required further scholarly analysis. The subject of the article is the analysis of the research state about the Narodnik literature in Poland which takes into consideration the issues of its reception and the presentation of the dominant research problems. Their solution would contribute to a more profound knowledge and the fair-minded evaluation of the real role of the Narodnik writers' fiction in the development of Russian literature in general.
