Evaluation of Demand for Insurance Protection as Regards Disaster Risks in the Light of Consumers Surveys in the Silesian Province

Summary/Abstract: Insurance protection in the market for disaster insurance should be assured in the systems way. Consumers, in the situation of loss or destruction of property as a result of natural disasters, expect assistance and financial support mainly from the state. Adequate economic instruments should be a security for possible disaster losses. An aim of considerations is to recognise and assess consumers’ insurance awareness as well as demand for insurance protection as regards disaster risks. In her article, the author presented findings of empirical research carried out in 2013 among consumers of the Silesian Province. The article is of the research nature.
