The role of transport services in the sustainable development of Silesian municipalities

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the issue of the importance of transport services in sustainable development on the example of Silesian municipalities. Transport sector is a key sector for sustainable development due to social and economic benefits that can be achieved thanks to it, with simultaneous minimizing its negative infulence on society, economy and environment. The aim of the article is to present and to analyze transport services provided by local governments of Silesian province, with particular reference to the directions of development in the context of sustainable development. The applied research methods are based on the study of literature from the tested range, analysis of the results of surveys conducted among the municipalities of Silesian province and among the inhabitants of the region.
