Summary/Abstract: An aim of considerations is to present the essence of shopping tourism, the determinants of its development, to pay a particular attention to its core, i.e. shopping centres and, moreover, the determinants of participation in shopping tourism, allowing description of the average shopping tourist. Achievement of the objective was able owing to a search for the subject literature, while in order to identify the determinants of participation in shopping tourism there were used findings of direct surveys. Using the binominal logit model, the author presented the profile of the average shopping tourist who appeared to be a woman of the young age (below 45 years), with at least secondary education, reaching a very favourable financial situation. In the article’s conclusion, the author referred to achievement of the objective and defined the directions of further research. The article is of the research nature.
