Summary/Abstract: An aim of considerations is to analyse the determinants of social innovations undertaken in the labour market in Poland and to present one of innovative solutions. The reasoning for the undertaken problems was an analysis, carried out within the framework of the article, of the labour market in the context of employment, indication of the problems connected with economic activity of the population in Poland and in the European Union countries. A subject of the analysis was changes in the employment index in the three age groups: in the group of population aged 15-64, 15-24 and 55-64. The period covered by the analysis concerned the quarter data on the employment index for the years 2000-2013. Raw data were seasonally smoothed with the use of the Census X-12 method. In the study, there were used the statistical methods in the area of time series analysis. The employment index in Poland is lower than the average value of the index in the European Union. The professional groups, for which specific is the lowest economic activity rate, are the groups of population aged 15-24 and 55-64. The employment services, governmental and non-governmental organisations seek efficient solutions. The way to change the existing state of affairs may become social innovations of the labour market. In the article, there are presented the innovative solutions applied by the Białystok Staff Foundation. The article is a case study and is of the research nature.
