Co-operation Between Academia and Business, Illustrated by the Example of Vocational Education in the Lodz Region – Talent Shortage Among Employees

Summary/Abstract: The financial perspective for 2014–2020 is a great opportunity to garner supportfor the development of vocational education and to bridge the gap between supply anddemand for skills and competences on the labour market. This paper aims to identifyreasons for the shortage of talent (based on the analysis of the existing sources and theauthor’s own research, from a regional perspective) and to formulate on this basis certaininitial recommendations for the development of academia – business – student/graduatecooperation. Co-operation which will result in minimising the mismatch between employers’expectations and potential employees’ qualifications and competences.
