Summary/Abstract: This article rethinks a problem that was raised by a Lithuanian emigrant philosopher Juozas Girnius in the middle of the XXth century. It is the problem of the human being in the context of technique, in this case, of contemporary technique. While paying attention to the human nature of technique and dangers that threaten the technical human being, i.e. while solving the questions of anthropotechnical derivatives, the article discusses the extensions of man, the distinctions between wisdom and technique, metaphysics and ethics, possibility and necessity, freedom and responsibility. Contemporary technique crosses the limits of its object – the thing-like nature. The technique of social relations (organizational) and “humane” technique appears as a technique of changing, overpowering and producing (or manipulating) people’s inner spiritual life.
