Summary/Abstract: Using the accessible literature on clusters, the author presents in her article the definitions of clusters, their features and types as well as benefits issuing from their development. She points out to the factors considered as indispensable for cluster formation. In a synthetic manner, there is discussed development of clusters in Poland and provided examples of clusters emerging in modern and traditional branches.
