Summary/Abstract: The notion of time in administrative language is very important, since it often includes the beginning, end, duration or sequence of certain regulated activities. The paper aims at examining structures referring to a limited time of activity and discussing problematic cases. The investigation is based on EU documents translated into Lithuanian.EU documents translated into Lithuanian express limited time of activity by prepositional structures, where the prepositions prieš (‘before’), po (‘after’), nuo (‘since, from’), iki (‘until, to’) are employed, comparative expressions, participial and half-participial structures, elements of subordinate clauses and complex structures.Depending on the context, structures with the preposition po (‘after’) and the genitive case of abstract deverbal nouns should be replaced by gerundial or halfparticipial structures with an indefinite meaning; moreover, they could be also replaced by the structure with the preposition nuo (‘since, from’), elements of a subordinate clause or giving more details to the timing of an abstract activity by adding the words day(s) (moment).
