Summary/Abstract: The present research focuses on the intellectual milieu of MSSR between the 1950s and the 1980s, as an integrant part of the intellectual milieu of the totalitarian system. Our goal is to emphasize the identity ethnic and social changes undergone by the intellectual milieu of MSSR along with the establishment of the totalitarian system. The analysed sources come from the National Archive and the Archive of Public Organisations of Chişinău concerning the percentage of ethnic and social representation within the intellectual milieu in general and within some particular categories, such as: artists, preuniversity and university teachers. Given the results of our research, we may infer that, over these 30 years, the ethnic and social constitution of the intellectual milieu of the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic underwent dramatic changes, caused by the persuasive policy of the Russian Soviet authorities for luring the indigenous population to the intellectual milieu, on the one hand, and for changing the components of this social category, on the other hand.
