Summary/Abstract: Many have written about the tragic situation of Bessarabia, gradually severed from the body of Moldova, faced with the invasions of the Tatar, Turk or Russian military forces, and under foreign occupation since 1812, convinced that, knowing more, we might understand more deeply the drama lived by our brothers east of the Prut, not only historians or politicians, but many simple Romanians, shattered by the fate of this aggrieved province. Such a man was Lieutenant-Colonel Mihail Drăghicescu. Erudite and worthy seafarer, he took part in the main moments of the creation of the Romanian War Fleet. Mihail Drăghicescu wrote a significant paper which includes a historical, geographical and hydrological description of all the regions, localities and points on the Danube and the Black Sea coast. Based on a great number of documents, this work, the result of a lifetime effort, is, unfortunately, little known to the large public. We are speaking of The History of the Main Points on the Danube, from the Mouth of Tisa to the Sea, and on the Sea Coasts, from Varna to Odessa, published, in the latest and most complete version, in Bucharest in 1943.
