Social culture in the context of the methodology of Ukrainian cuisine research

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the work is a conceptual analysis of social culture as a methodological basis for researching Ukrainian cuisine. The methodology is based on the application of general scientific methods (systemic, structural-functional, genetic, typologization, etc.) with the involvement of research settings of socio-cultural analysis of phenomena and processes. Scientific novelty consists in the following: cultural essence of social culture has been clarified and a distinction between the concepts "social culture" and "sociocultural" has been revealed. The study points out the necessity of applying the concept of social culture for the study of Ukrainian cuisine. Conclusions. Based on the analysis of the views of Ukrainian and foreign scholars, the work shows the relationship between the concept of "social culture" and the concept of "culture". Attention is drawn to the inclusion into the first term of two meanings – social and cultural. Culture is an internal form, and the social world is external, so they can be viewed both in close interdependence and in interaction, and apart from each other. It is in the context of social culture as a complex and multilevel phenomenon that Ukrainian cuisine should be considered, since the latter is closely related to various aspects of public life, reflects people's relationships, norms and forms of their behavior, artifacts, etc., traditional for the culture of a particular society.
