Summary/Abstract: This article deals with conception of cultural memory as cultural capital and the externalization and objectivation of cultural memory. It analyses the emplacement and embodiment of cultural memory and the places and objects that strenghten or weaken cultural memory and provoke forgetting. Studies of objectivated and externalized cultural memory and cultural heritage became relevant in the process of decolonisation and in the political, cultural and social movements related to the consolidation of new collective identities. Visuality is one of the key points in contructing associations with the past and expectations and conceptions of cultural heritage. Production and consumption of visuality and imaginery become an integral part of cultural heritage and cultural memory. Places of cultural memory are both visually (by making photos or videos) and physically consumed.
