Summary/Abstract: The article studies cultural communication and cooperation between Lithuania and emigration. When the second wave of emigration occurred before the Soviet Union occupied Lithuania, a large portion of Lithuanian cultural life - writers, painters, sculptors, musicians, translators, etc. - fled abroad. Over time the exile faced the problem of whether to communicate and cooperate with the representatives of the Soviet Lithuanian culture or not. This article explores the subject of whether Lithuania or emigration what should be considered a cultural centre. What should be called a periphery on the cultural level? Are a centre and a periphery a steadfast constant, or do they depend on the circumstances so that a centre can become a periphery and a periphery a centre?
