Summary/Abstract: During the period of the Dominate, there was a significant stagnation in the economy, especially in the mining industry. The Roman province of Dalmatia and Pannonia, part of which were areas of today's Bosnia and Herzegovina, were faced with a number of both internal and foreign policy, difficulties. Trying in various ways to overcome the difficulties of the crisis the Roman authorities have repeatedly attempted to initiate production of all kinds. Their activities were especially focused on the revival and strengthening of mining industry as a main source of income. However, the circumstances at that time, and above all political and social ones, were not allowing any kind of changes, which would be in the spirit of a new prosperity. So the mining industry in the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina during the entire period of Dominate was constantly exposed to different types of difficulties that have prevented its serious revival and strengthening. To some, but a short time, the transformation of mining and mining activity occurred only after the definitive fall of the Western Roman Empire, and during the reign of King Theodoric the Ostrogoth who started producing of iron in mines of Dalmatia.
