Summary/Abstract: Among the axiological goals pursued in the teaching of religious precepts, the following are deemed to convey fundamental values and attitudes: developing an awareness of the role of religious teachings in the life of individuals and the community, cultivating respect for holy matters, assuming one’s own religious identity, showing a sense of responsibility in the exercise of the rights and duties arising from various religious identities (confession, nation, community, profession, culture etc.), respect and understanding towards one’s fellow human beings, regardless of their faiths and beliefs, and Christian love for the neighbour.
