Philosophical-historical Deconstruction of the European Idea and Identity

Summary/Abstract: The study is aimed at deconstructing the concept European idea as well as at tracing back the roots of the contemporary process of European identity construction. To this end it starts with the early and medieval ideas about Europe, goes through its Enlightenment and National narratives and concludes with the practical implication of the European idea in the context of the EU. Such a deconstruction is an attempt to reveal some of the meanings encoded in the multi-level contemporary European integration processes.
