Summary/Abstract: In this study the author searches for the conceptual messages in the poetry of Bulgarian Literature’s Patriarch, which suggest that only by a strong will, faith and a quest for knowledge and self-development, can one rise to the true freedom of personality and spirit. And with his high civic conscience, with the educational beginning, the realistic delight and satirical orientation of his work, Ivan Vazov shows how people of his “rank” cannot and should not keep silent when making decisions with important consequences for the people.
