Summary/Abstract: In the paper the polish sugar sector competitiveness is compared with the main competitors of the European union sugar sector – France and Germany. In 2006 the EU introduced a reform of the sugar market into preparation of the sugar sector liberalization in 2017. Dueto reform, sugar sector was reorganized into improvement its profitability. The article uses statistical data from International Sugar Organization and European Association of the Sugar Producers and Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics in order to appraise the changes and ability to compete in the international marketplace.
