Summary/Abstract: “Speaking in Tongues”, as a Gift of the Spirit, is Still Working in the Church? A Pauline Perspective. An important issue the contemporary Christians are very interesting in is the answer to the question: “Speaking in tongues”, as Gift of the Spirit, is still working in the church? This article is an enquiry in this matter. By analysing of this theme and based on the exegesis of the Church fathers I came to the conclusion that Apostle Paul give in answer to this matter in 1 Corinthians 14. His answer seems to be a negative one. Is it indeed so? In this respect John Chrysostom concludes that “speaking in tongues” is “neither altogether useless, nor very profitable”. Spiritual gifts are for all men, Christians and non-Christians. But speaking in tongues do not edify most Christians and fail to convert unbelievers. May we assume such kind of presupposition? In the following analysis is to find a response in this regard.
