Summary/Abstract: In 1926 in Krobia (Greater Poland), the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) started a bimonthly missionary magazine, Oblat Niepokalanej (The Oblat of the Immaculate). In 1931 they initiated two missionary series. The first one, called Biblioteka Misyjna OO. Oblatów M. N. (OMI Missionary Collection), included books by P. Duchaussois Wśród lodów polarnych (The Polar Regions), W płomieniach Cejlonu (The Flames of Ceylon) and Bohaterki (The Heroines). The second series, targeted at the less well-off readers, included Okawango (Okawango) by J. Gotthard OMI and Obrazki misyjne z kraju Basutosów (Missionary Impressions from the Basuto Country) by O. Rommerskirchen OMI. Both series are discussed in this article. The presented analysis of the Polish novels describing missionary work, based on the publishing activities of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate between the interwar years (1919-1938), shows that they had three basic objectives: education, information and propagation of missions.
