World Council of Churches versus global poverty and suffering

Summary/Abstract: Global poverty is the most serious, or one of the most serious, political and moral challenges today. International political institutions like UN, and global civil organisations, declare the elimination of the global poverty as their main objective. Christian churches also work very hard towards this goal. The article presents the most important efforts in this regard done by the largest ecumenical organisations, the World Council of Churches, and the theological basis for their involvement.
