Summary/Abstract: Purpose – Board gender diversity in financial and non-financial institutions is studied in a growing number of publications. The scope of the research has a national and international importance. The interest in women on boardrooms is casued by their impact on bank or firm performance and risk. The main aim of this article is to present a literature review and a research about women’s presence on boardrooms. Design/Methodology/approach – The basis of this article is a review and the relevant influence of women at management positions of financial sector institutions and companies on their financial results and the level of risk. Findings – The results of literature review indicate that there is a positive or negative relationship between women in executive positions and profitability in the nonfinancial institutions sector. In banks, there is a positive relation between the number of women and performance. Furthermore, the literature poses that female presence on the management level is correlated with the risk level, undertaken by financial and nonfinancial companies. Depending on the sort of entity and the data sample, there is a reduction or a growth risk. Originality/Value – The article presents conclusions from selected literature on the research, which have been undertaken by individual authors on the impact of women on performance and the level of risk in banks or companies.
