Summary/Abstract: In the evolution of writing, types have been used in the history of visual communication ever since 1454 believed to be the year of the invention of printing. As a refection of changes, both socially and evolutionally, the twentiethcentury printing brought forth innovations and breakthroughs in art and design, sciences and technologies. That period was marked by the artworks of such artists as Kandinsky, Hausmann, Rodchenko, El Lissitzky, Bayer, Renner, Rand, Brockmann, Lubalin, Zuzana Licko, Carson, Brody, a number of historically significant movements and studios that have shaped the graphic design.
