Summary/Abstract: The following paper discusses the use of phrases in poetry, to be more precise – innovations, which are a result of intentionally breaking the norm. A further focus is placed on the difference between a phraseological mistake and a phraseological innovation. The study also presents the typology of innovations, such as adding a new component, change of a component, phraseological contamination, etc. as well as the artistic effect they achieve.
