Soft Power in China

Summary/Abstract: China is experiencing a tremendous growth and has an increasing political ambition to achieve the world hegemony. China is trying to increase its power by using soft power resources and instruments. The country is learning anew to take advantage of its cultural resources, especially by referring to the past. One source of these resources is the Confucian tradition which can replace communist ideas without excluding the ruling elite of the Communist Party. An important resource of soft power is the Chinese model of economic development and success, which can be attractive to many countries.
