Summary/Abstract: This study presents an analysis of the foreign policy of the Federal Republic of Germany during the administration of the SPD/Greens coalition. In numerous aspects, Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Vice Chancellor of his government, Joschka Fischer, opted for continuity in the foreign policy. However, there were also certain new aspects, related to the process of Eastern EU and NATO enlargement that had to be dealt with. Therefore, it proved necessary to analyze possible consequences these parallel enlargement processes might have brought to Germany. The study consists of two main parts: first one presents the analysis of the Western dimension of German foreign policy, concentrating on the bilateral relations with the United States and France. Second part is dedicated to the Eastern dimension of German foreign policy, analyzing bilateral relations with Russia, Ukraine, and Poland.
