Summary/Abstract: The book by Renata Stachura-Lupa Ideological and aesthetic views of S. Tarnowski (“Poglądy ideowo-estetyczne Stanisława Tarnowskiego”, Kraków 2016) enriches contemporary research on the nineteenth-century literary criticism. The organizing role for the research material is played by the following six categories: the sublime, tragedy, comedy, irony, grace and taste. With the adoption of this solution we have received a book, which is important for the study of the nineteenth century. The book is multi-threaded (historical perspective is combined with literary criticism, and philosophical and aesthetic perspectives), erudite, and impresses with its range of material taken into account.
