Summary/Abstract: The article presents a theoretical and comparative analysis of legal norm and language norm as types of social norms. The legal norm is viewed as a prescriptive deontological norm while alanguage norm – as adefining deontological one. The conclusion focuses on the necessity for passing and enforcing of an Official Literary Language Act regulating the obligatory usage of the official Bulgarian language and establishment of language rules and the limits of mandatory.
