Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to present selected aspects of Polish Biblical translation practice of recent decades. The perspective is philological and oriented at linguistic notions. The first part is devoted to outlining the output and major tendencies of contemporary Biblical translation work in Poland. The following part describes historical sources, conditions and indicators which constitute the repertoire of features characteristic of traditional Polish Biblical style, shaped mainly by the Catholic Biblia Wujka (1599) and the Protestant Biblia gdańska (1632). A consi derable part of the article concerns the linguistic aspect of contemporary translations of the Bible into Polish, considered both from the perspective of a traditional Polish Biblical model and adopted translation concepts. The author has presented four areas in the field of Polish Biblical translation practice of the last fifty years, in which particular tendencies and philological dilemmas are revealed. They concern the ways in which authors and editors of these works refer to: (1) contemporary Polish language, (2) historical resources of Biblical Polish language, (3) preserved units, like Biblical loci communes, as well as (4) implications resulting from attempts made in some modern Biblical translation works to abandon the literary Polish language model.
